Evolved from the big rafts
used in the early days on the Mississippi, Nearly a hundred years ago, the
Sweepboat was refined for use along the Salmon River in Idaho to haul supplies
and mining equipment down whitewater.
The Sweepboat:
A 23 foot raft capable of taking 16 passengers on leisurely tours. Giant oars called "sweeps" control the direction of travel. It is equipped with a small motor for keeping time schedules and combating upriver wind.

TRIP Mom or Dad can
kick back, relax, and take pictures while the rest of the family works off
energy paddling their own boat(s). Anyone who wants to take a break, can hop on
the big boat. Inflatable kayaks can be scheduled as part of the trip
offering.
DO YOU HAVE INTERRUPTIONS AT YOUR WORKPLACE?
Try a staff retreat. Lots of ideas can erupt if the setting is
just a little different. Cell phones have trouble in a river canyon. Take
this opportunity to clear your minds and be productive. Up to 14 persons can
ride the sweepboat comfortably.

special together? Plan a birthday or other special event on the river. We
provide hors d'oeuvres for a relaxing 2 1/2 hour trip on the
water.
SCHOOL FIELD TRIPS
2 or 3 day overnight for talented and gifted students.
John Day River
This trip includes a visit to a wind turbine electric generation farm. Classroom activities take place during the 35 mile float from Tewickenham to Clarno. The trip is finalized by a short tour of the John Day Fossil beds near Clarno.
Deschutes River
The Deschutes trip begins with a tour at Oak Springs Fish hatchery. The classroom activities involve tasks on shore and floating throught the 23 mile section between Mack's Canyon and the mouth. This trip focuses on Geology, Railroad HIstory, the Missula Floods, and Native American past activities. The final event is a tour of the Petroglyths at Horse Thief Butte. |
